JD Sports commits to Gyle Shopping Centre as £3M refurbishment completes - Edinburgh

On behalf of Ellandi, international real estate advisor Savills has secured a new letting to JD Sports at the Gyle shopping centre on the outskirts of Edinburgh. The letting closely follows the completion of a £3 million refurbishment and modernisation project on Edinburgh’s largest out of town covered shopping centre.

JD Sports, the leading trainer and sports fashion retailer in the UK, will occupy the former Dorothy Perkins unit, expanding 6,500 sq ft (604 sq m). Anchored by M&S and Morrison's, other retailers in the 400,000 sq ft (37,160 sq m) shopping centre include Flying Tiger, WH Smith, Beaverbrooks, Claire’s, Thomas Cook, TUI, 3 Store, O2 and Disney. The centre boasts an annual footfall of 11.5 million.

Stuart Moncur, head of the national retail team at Savills, comments: “The significant changes to The Gyle have modernised and enhanced the centre, as well as further raising it profile as the key retailer destination in west Edinburgh. The latest letting to JD Sports is testament to the success of the investment programme”.

JD Sports was unadvised. The investment program included upgraded entrances, toilets, bulkhead, signage and lighting to create a contemporary environment for today’s shopper.
