Dodecanese Islands, Greece

Dodecanese Islands

Kos, Rhodes and Patmos are the most visited Dodecanese Islands, a group of around 30 in the southeast Aegean Sea close to Turkey, where traditional whitewashed homes cluster on the hillsides above sandy beaches.

Kos and Rhodes are the most developed, helped by their international airports but a high-speed ferry to Patmos or Leros to visit monasteries and castles mixed in with neat white windmills transports you back through the centuries.
