Planning team shortlisted for major national award

MK Dons Highbury and Cardiff Sports Village

Sports theme in submission helped catch the judges' eyes.

Savills' large and growing Planning and Regeneration team has been shortlisted for the prestigious Royal Town Planning Institute's Planning Consultancy of the Year award.

The winner of the award, which was last year presented to Arup, will be announced at a ceremony at the London Hilton on 5 February 2009.

Roger Hepher, Head of Planning and Regeneration, said:

"This being an Olympic year, our submission featured four projects with a sports theme - Southend FC stadium and retail enabling development; Highbury Square (the conversion of the old Arsenal stadium to a new residential community); Stadium MK, Milton Keynes (the football stadium for the MK Dons, together with enabling retail development); and Cardiff International Sports Village."

"On every one of these high-profile projects the team devised and implemented planning strategies which have delivered successful results."

"The projects submitted for the award are representative of the large number of major sports projects being handled by a team which has become pre-eminent within this sector."
