Grade II* listed York landmark changes hands for almost £1 million

12 July 2017

International real estate advisor Savills, on behalf of a private client, has sold the Grade II* listed Bathurst House in York to a private investor for in excess of the £995,000 guide price.

The landmark Georgian property, which dates back to the 1720s, has a rich history as a private dwelling and hotel as well as a former home to York YWCA and York University.  In the 1980s, the building was converted for office use and has since been occupied by BHP Chartered Accountants on a lease expiring in December this year.  It is located in Micklegate, at the southern entrance to York city centre.

Paddy Carter, director at Savills, comments: "This landmark property attracted significant interest due to its future development potential, subject to the necessary planning consent.  We are pleased with the strong sale price achieved on behalf of our client.”
