Savills marks ten years at the Royal Highland Show

21 June 2017

Savills Rural will be at the Royal Highland Show for the tenth consecutive year, from Thursday 22nd June to Sunday 25th June.

The Royal Highland Show is the annual showcase for Scotland’s rural sector and the country’s largest outdoor event, attracting almost 200,000 visitors each year.

Savills rural property experts will be based on Stand 569 on Avenue O, throughout the four days of the show, offering hospitality and advice to farmers and landowners on a range of rural issues from:  farmland values;  whether to buy or sell;  how to control costs and  maximise profits on your farm; opportunities for housing development on your land; the pros and cons of establishing renewables, forestry or leisure enterprises on rural property.

Jonathan Henson, Head of Savills Rural in Scotland said:  “The rural sector is facing significant change:  we have new Land Reform legislation, changes in taxation, and of course the Brexit process which is bringing uncertainty regarding our relationship with trading partners and in relation to the subsidy regime.  This period of flux might be extended in the light of failure of the UK government to secure an overall majority.  However Michael Gove, the new Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affair has recently announced he will stand by the Conservative’s pledge to maintain total support payments to farmers until 2022, giving the sector time to plan for life post-Brexit. Given these developments, now must be a good time to stress-check your assets and future-proof your farming businesses.  We will be talking about ways farmers might mitigate against current challenges, and importantly about taking advantage of many new opportunities that are open to the rural sector.”
