Wilko, Lidl and M&S Simply Food sign up for The Oaks Centre, Acton

12 May 2017

Reef Estates Limited and ARC, represented by international real estate advisor Savills, have pre-let space at The Oaks Shopping Centre in Acton to Wilko, Lidl and M&S Simply Food.

The centre is currently undergoing a £135 million redevelopment, due for completion in 2019, which includes the creation of 11 new retail units, a gym and 178 residential apartments.

The pre-lets will see the three retailers anchor the redeveloped scheme, with Wilko agreeing a 15-year lease for a 12,733 sq ft ft (1,183 sq m) store while Lidl has taken a 15,264 sq ft (1,418 sq m) unit on a 20-year lease.  M&S Simply Food has signed up for a 15-year lease on a 11,322 sq ft (1,052 sq m) store.

Gary Darrell, retail director at Savills, comments: "The Oaks redevelopment works are central to the regeneration of Acton, providing high quality retail space and new homes in the town centre.  We are pleased to have secured this strong line up of major retailers, which will act as a catalyst for attracting other big names to the scheme.”

Piers Slater of Reef Estates adds: “The completion of the scheme in 2019 will coincide with the arrival of Crossrail in Acton.  This is a location very much on an upwards trajectory.”

Wilko was represented by Harvey Spackfield, Lidl was unrepresented and MMX acted for M&S Simply Food.
