Savills Self-Build & Plot Solutions launched in Scotland

18 April 2017

Savills Plot and Self-Build Solutions, a new Scotland-wide service, was launched at a pilot event in the Perth office on Wednesday 29th March.  It was attended by a mixed audience including landowners with plots to market, developers looking at different ways to deliver small sites, and individual clients who aspire to create their own grand designs.  They were addressed by a range of Savills experts including Angus Dodds of Rural Planning who provided top tips of achieving planning permission; architect Gareth Morris who inspired the audience with images and commentary in relation to self-build properties; and Danielle Corker of Savills Development team who provided examples of sites that had been reconfigured and successfully marketed as self-build plots.  Calum Kerr of SPF also outlined potential pitfalls and solutions with regard to financing self-build projects.

Graham Reid of Aberdeen development team said: “We have found this cross-divisional approach, involving Development and REP across a number of service lines, has struck a chord with a diverse range of clients.”

Richard Thompson, Director of Rural Development, who chaired the event, said:  “Our networking lunch afterwards engendered interesting conversations, and the team are in the throws of following up some exciting leads. With associated blogs, social media activity, some internal lunch and learns and our participation at the Scottish Homebuilding and Renovating Show in May (being attended by 8,000 potential clients), we are committed to continuing the self-build momentum.”
