Alliance Francaise signs up for office space at 125 Portland Street, Manchester

25 January 2017

Manchester Building Society, represented by international real estate advisor Savills, has let office space at 125 Portland Street in Manchester city centre to Alliance Française de Manchester.

The French language school has agreed a new 10-year lease for 7,774 sq ft (722 sq m) on the ground and first floor. The deal leaves just 5,100 sq ft (474 sq m) of available space on the third floor of the property.

Richard Lowe, office agency director at Savills, comments: “We are pleased to have let this space at 125 Portland Street to Alliance Française following a recent second floor transaction to CHBC Investments.  The building offers very competitively priced accommodation and the last remaining floor is attracting good occupier interest.”

Emmanuel Bottiau, director of Alliance Française, adds: “On the eve of our 20th anniversary in Manchester, the Alliance Française de Manchester is delighted to be moving to 125 Portland Street. Our commitment to the city, with new and larger premises, provides us with extra opportunities for creating cultural dialogue, organising cultural events and teaching French to even more people of all ages.  We will benefit from an expanded multimedia library space and an increased number of classrooms from six to 10, all fitted out with new furniture and state-of-the-art teaching equipment.  We look forward to welcoming existing and new students early in 2017.”

Alliance Française was represented by Adam Robson at AKM Property Consultants.  WHR act as joint agents on the building.
