Decathlon scores new store at Chelmsford's Riverside Retail Park

British Airways Pension Fund, represented jointly by Savills and Morgan Williams, has let a unit at Riverside Retail Park in Chelmsford to Decathlon.

The sports retailer has agreed a new 15-year lease for the 7,500 sq ft (697 sq m) store at a rent of £27.50 per sq ft (£296 per sq m), joining other occupiers including HomeSense, Sports Direct, Smyths Toys  and Costa Coffee.  Located north east of Chelmsford town centre, Riverside Retail Park comprises 15 retail warehouse units totalling 144,470 sq ft (13,421 sq m). 

Dominic Rodbourne, head of out of town retail at Savills, comments: “We are pleased to have secured this letting to Decathlon which further enhances the strong retail line up at Riverside Retail Park. Their new unit, which is being created by sub-dividing a former Staples unit, will be refurbished with fantastic full height glazing installed.  We now have the balance of circa 9,274 sq ft to let, and this will be available in the second quarter 2017.”

Decathlon was unrepresented.
