Planning Division comes top in consultancy survey for the second year running

21 November 2016

Savills Planning division has maintained its position as The No 1 consultancy in Planning magazine’s annual consultancy survey.

According to the survey results, Savills is officially the UK’s largest planning consultancy, assessed on the number of RTPI planners we employ.

The survey also produces a sector analysis that shows the top fee earners in each sector and again the division scores very favourably, being the in the top 5 in the following sectors: Housing, Commercial/Industrial, Retail, Leisure, Householder and Education.

For the first time, Planning magazine takes a look back over the 20-year period that the survey has been running to give a historic perspective on the growth of the consultancy sector and refers to Savills as follows:

'Savills, whose current figure of 167 chartered planners is the highest ever recorded in the survey, embarked on the takeover trail in 1999 by acquiring Dorset-based Shaw Cramond. The firm's big push came in 2006, when the acquisition of Hepher Dixon took it into treble figures. Last year's takeover of real estate rivals Smiths Gore helped boost numbers to their present level.'

David Jackson, head of UK Planning says: “This analysis confirms both the diverse nature of our client base, which is a real strength, and our growing representation in these sectors. It is great to be No. 1 again this year, something of which the whole division can be proud, and I would like to thank the planning teams across the UK for their time and commitment in ensuring we continue to grow and strengthen as a business.”
