New chapter for Chipping's historic Kirk Mill as hotel & leisure opportunity launches

13 September 2016

SCP Investments Ltd (SCPi), represented by international real estate advisor Savills, has brought to market a hotel and leisure opportunity at the historic Kirk Mill near Chipping in the Forest of Bowland.

The 11-acre (4.5-hectare) site has full planning permission for conversion into a 60-bedroom hotel with associated leisure uses including a wedding venue, spa, restaurants, trail head centre and kids’ club.  SCPi will shortly commence refurbishment of the Grade II listed Kirk Mill to secure its long term future, while the redundant factory premises will be demolished and a new village cricket pitch will be completed.

A high quality, 46-unit residential scheme is also being developed as part of the wider regeneration of the site.  Located within the Kirk Mill conservation area, the new development will create a strong leisure destination appealing to tourists exploring picturesque Chipping, the Forest of Bowland, Ribble Valley, Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.

Tom Cunningham, hotels director at Savills, comments: “This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a significant hotel opportunity in an area with a strong tourist and leisure trade.  Many of the original features of the 18th Century mill at the heart of the site have been maintained which will create a real point of difference.”
